Quinn and Golymbieski win religious tax exemption case

Stephen Quinn and Debra Golymbieski recently obtained an important victory for churches and religious institutions in DeKalb County and throughout Georgia. A local church group turned to Wilson, Morton & Downs, LLC for help when DeKalb County attempted to impose a property tax because the church had rented its property to another congregation. The superior court ruled that the property was exempt from taxation as religious property, notwithstanding the rental of the property.  DeKalb County appealed, but the Georgia Court of Appeals affirmed the trial court’s ruling, thus securing a valuable legal precedent for religious property throughout the State.
