Debra Golymbieski is Of Counsel to Wilson, Morton & Downs, LLC. She is also a registered mediator and arbitrator in Georgia and has achieved Society of Human Resources-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification. She has nationally recognized experience serving institutions in the areas of education law and local government law. Her previous positions include Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia, Assistant County Attorney for DeKalb County, Interim City Attorney for the City of Lithonia and Legal Services Officer for the Georgia Department of Community Health.
During the course of her legal career, Debra has represented for profit and not-for-profit corporations, state, county and municipal government entities, public and private schools as well as public school systems and numerous religious entities. She has presented numerous seminars on a range of topics including constitutional rights of public school students, legal issues and student health services, the Georgia Open Records Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, student discipline, and school employment issues. She is a contributor to education law publications.
Licensed to practice law in Georgia and Massachusetts, Debra is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and both the National and Georgia School Board Associations Council of School Attorneys. She attended Tulane University for her undergraduate work, going on to earn a J.D. with cum laude honors from the University of Georgia School of Law.
Debra is originally from Waterbury, Connecticut and now resides in Acworth, Georgia with her husband.
